POSITION SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Senior Director of Crisis Services. It is responsible for the clinical practice and daily operations of the River Edge Recovery Center, which includes the Behavioral Health Crisis Center, Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit and Crisis Service Center, and the Child and Adolescence Crisis Stabilization Unit. These units includes directing all services provided by Physicians, Advance Practitioners, Nursing, and Direct Support Professional staff. As a member of the Leadership Team, this position ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and services consistent with the facility's goals and objectives, and actively participates in a leadership role by consulting with facility management in designing and providing total patient care and services. This position is responsible for maintaining, interpreting, and preparing the facility for all relevant certifications, audits, and investigations.

This position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of emergency response, co-responder, and crisis intervention services, including pre-screening, crisis assessment, stabilization, and referral assistance, both over the phone and in person, in the office, and in the community. These services are provided 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the program operates in accordance with: (a) policies and procedures to ensure best practices are materialized throughout a multi-disciplinary team, including Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Licensed and Master's-prepared Clinicians, Health Service Technicians, and Case Managers.
  • Manage contractual obligations, operating provisions, legal rules and regulations, licensure and accreditation requirements, and ethical and professional standards of a robust, growing, and outcomes-oriented service line.
  • Conduct coordination of outpatient services for crisis client population, including partial hospitalization program and Intensive Outpatient Program treating mental health and Co-occurring presentations when escalations occur.
  • As a member of the Leadership Team, collaborate with the team, Chief Executives, Directors, and other program staff. Facilitates support and easy access to clinical leadership and support by offering strategies to achieve Center objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate operations for a psychiatric inpatient program to include 24/7 crisis/emergency services and inpatient treatment services, including the management and coordination of the Center's emergency and crisis intervention services, the crisis stabilization unit, and Co-Responder, and Recovery Services.
  • Must prioritize outcomes-oriented behavioral health interventions and provide patient-centered care.
  • Organize staff to subdivide the program's work, assign responsibility, and delegate authority as necessary to accomplish this work. Provide after-hour staff consultation as needed.
  • Provide direct care of Recovery Center patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis on an as-needed basis and if the need arises and as assigned.
  • Supervise and develop program staff. Initiate team member decisions/touch points, including hiring, development, and separation processes.
  • Construct program budgets and achieve program fiscal objectives. Coordinate with funding entities to include commercial insurance, managed care contracts, and other subcontracted revenue sources to ensure program viability.
  • Manage departmental utilization management processes, including and not limited to organizational guidelines regarding authorizations, failed activities, failed claims, and EMR standards.
  • Respond to the behavioral health needs of persons in our community by developing new services and programs and securing new service contracts or grants
  • Establish good liaisons and connect with other agencies and community groups to further the program's and the Center's objectives.

Requirements/ Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will be a driven leader with a strong focus on safety, quality, and integrity.
  • Five (5) years of inpatient psych management experience preferred
  • BSN required Master's Degree a preferred.
  • Active RN License
  • Working knowledge of CMS and CARF accreditation standards.
  • Four (4) years of behavioral health experience in an inpatient leadership role preferred
  • ER or ICU experience considered
  • Five (5) years of progressive nurse management experience
  • Will consider LCSW, LPC, or LMFT with appropriate experience
