Physician Advisor/Medical Director

We’re excited to announce an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Full-Time Physician Advisor (Medical Director) to join our team! 

As a Physician Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in promoting high-value care, ensuring optimal clinical documentation, and efficient utilization of resources, among other key responsibilities.

You can also expect to participate in the Utilization Management Committee, Patient Flow Committee, and support Clinical Documentation Integrity to ensure optimal clinical documentation in the medical record. You will also provide physician education on clinical documentation, medical necessity, status determinations, LOS management, and Medicare rules as they relate to reimbursement and patient benefits.

We promote a culture of high-value care, stewardship of resources, and efficient patient flow by effectively engaging with physicians and other staff. You will develop strong relationships with hospitalists, medical staff, Case Management, nursing staff, ancillary staff, and Executive Leadership to enhance alignment on key strategic goals of the medical center, Division, and System. You’ll also participate in SNF and LTACH Collaboratives as applicable and help to facilitate and develop strong sustainable partnerships with leaders of these and all relevant local post-acute facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day responsibilities will be to engage with physicians, physician leadership, the Director of Care Management, and the Executive Leadership Team to ensure effective patient flow and appropriate length of stay management.
  • You’ll also provide strategic partnership to the Care Management team, addressing escalations that include admission status determinations, delays in discharge, and clinical input for denial management.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO (any specialty) 
  • CA Medical License
  • Experience in UM, UR, Case Management, or related field
