As a Camp Health Assistant you'll collaborate with the Nurse for the day-to-day wellness of campers and staff and provide assistance in the Health Care Center for the care and supervision of staff & campers. You'll be responsible for handing out medications, providing basic first aid, and identifying any "red flag" mental health issues. You'll also be available to assist camp staff who may be struggling with correcting camper misbehaviors.
But that's not all! You'll have ample opportunities to interact with campers and staff, befriend and interact with them to foster a quality camping experience in accordance with the stated goals of the camping program. You'll also be an appropriate and effective example for both staff & campers, example, concern, and service.
Plus, you'll enjoy a great work-life balance, with 48 hours off each week, including Saturday afternoon, a full day off on Sunday, and Monday morning off. You can choose to stay on the grounds or leave and explore the surrounding area during your time off.
This position runs for 13 weeks, starting in the first week of June, and pays $18-20/hour, with food and shelter provided for free. You'll also gain valuable experience and skills in the fields of Medicine, Social Services, or Mental Health Care.
To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you'll need to be 21 years of age or older, have general skills in working with children, and have current CPR/First Aid/AED certification and Mental Health First Aid. You must also be currently enrolled in a college level or higher program working towards a career in the fields of Medicine, Social Services, or Mental Health Care. And of course, a huge plus is having a personal & growing relationship with the Christian faith and preferred previous camping experience either as a camper or as a staff member.
MA or CNA experience and certification is a plus.
