Position Summary:
Responsible for managing the employee health service functions of the organization. Administers healthcare program operations. Ensures that all medical records are kept in a manner compliant with appropriate policies and procedures. Will be responsible for administering employee physicals, injury related diagnoses, wellness program, employee safety including ergonomics and other types of referrals according to OSHA regulations. Will provide evaluation and consultation regarding workers' compensation, infection control or other employee health, wellness and safety related issues. Requires a bachelor's degree in Nursing. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Provides candidates with a health assessment screening for their ability to perform the essential functions of the position they are being offered including but not limited to a urinary analysis and TB testing
• Provide injured employees with a screening assessment when injured on the job and makes appropriate referrals to the outsourced vendor for treatment as needed
• Responsible for the return to work program including all modified duty assignments
• Responsible for the exposure control program including but not limited to blood and body fluid exposures
• Responsible for collaboration with the worker’s compensation carrier on claims and resolution
• Responsible for collaboration between the carrier, outside counsel and in-house counsel on resolution of worker’s compensation claims
• Responsible for oversight and collaboration with the HR Generalist on the leave of absence process and return to work restricted duty assignments
• Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all employee health information
• Responsible for participating in the Employee Health, Wellness and Safety Programs
• Responsible for the Universal Precautions Program and Protocols
• Responsible for obtaining certification in ergonomic assessments and the training and assessment of assigned ancillary staff members. Manages and facilitates ergo evaluations for office/home-based employees.
• Maintains informational tools and knowledge of most current laws and regulations relating to FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, PDL, USERRA, CFRA, OSHA, etc.
• Manages workers’ compensation cases including, but not limited to: documenting, reporting, and monitoring open and pending cases.
• Maintains relationships with insurance vendors and clinics involved in injury evaluations.
• Ensures that OSHA training is completed for all employees and that all OSHA requirements are met.
• Attends, documents, and reports any and all legal proceedings relating to worker’s compensation or leave of absence claims.

• Provides guidance on the interpretation of HR policies, federal and state employment law compliance.
• Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Keeps informed of development and trends in the industry to ensure that accurate information is being communicated throughout the organization.
• Researches and draft guidelines, policies and procedures relating to occupational health issues.
• Collaborates with executive management to design services created to meet the needs of employees.
• Demonstrates organization and planning skills necessary to handle changing priorities, and numerous projects simultaneously.
• Must have initiative and be capable of independent thought and action, with good problem solving skills and ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment.
• Supports all Goals of the organization.

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Current California license as a Registered Nurse without any restrictions and/or stipulations
• Prefer someone with previous occupational health experience and management
• Must have and maintain knowledge of the Federal, State and local laws which pertain to OSHA, ADAAA, EEOC, Worker’s Compensation, DFEH, and including SDI, TTD/PPD
• Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with staff at all levels of the organization, vendors and physicians.
