We've been engaged to search for a Medical Director of Risk Management with the largest HMO in Southern California. The mission is to deliver top-notch healthcare services and improve patient outcomes. With over 2500 PCP's in multiple locations, you'll play an integral role in the success of the organization!

About the Medical Director Role:

As the Medical Director, it's crucial that you have an understanding of the financial aspects of the programs and are an expert in HCC (Hierarchical Condition Category) coding and the company's initiatives. You'll build strong relationships with exclusive Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) in your assigned region, ensuring compliance with the company's needs. Access to cutting-edge EMR systems will facilitate efficient information retrieval and chart reviews.

This role will require a "boots on the ground" mentality as you'll be visiting clinics and shaking hands with providers daily. The risk department is known for being visible and available to physicians to answer questions about charting and appropriate codes for reimbursement, and to provide education on best practices.

Managed care experience with a thorough understanding of HCC coding, as well as knowledge of a vast array of diagnoses will be crucial for success in this role.

You'll oversee a team of 10 coding specialists, physician trainers, and project managers and will get to flex your leadership skills.

Medical Director Responsibilities:

  • Educate PCPs and their staff on HCC and quality metrics.
  • Deepen your understanding of the programs' financials and HCC.
  • Build and foster relationships with exclusive PCPs in the region.
  • Efficiently retrieve information and conduct chart reviews using EMR systems.
  • Drive effective utilization of qHMO for improved patient care.

Qualifications for the Medical Director:

  • Medical degree and relevant board certification.
  • CA medical license.
  • Proven experience in HCC and financial management.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
