For over 50 years, our organization has been dedicated to promoting social justice by providing support services to predominantly low-income people of color throughout San Francisco. We are currently seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis.
**Position Overview:**
The Substance Abuse Counselor plays a crucial role in our organization, providing counseling and case management to clients receiving services in the Bayview methadone clinic. As a full-time, non-exempt position, you will report directly to the Assistant Director of Substance Use Services (SUDS). This position offers an opportunity for a temporary-to-hire contract with a competitive salary.
**Key Responsibilities:**
Conduct assessments and manage a caseload of clients in the methadone clinic.
Develop treatment plans and monitor progress towards achieving them.
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
Provide case management and make appropriate referrals.
Maintain accurate clinical records and enter data into relevant databases.
Maintain a minimum productivity level of at least 60% billable hours per contract standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of SUDS.
**Qualifications:**
Substance Abuse Counselor Certification, with experience working with individuals struggling with addiction.
At least two years of experience providing substance abuse treatment, case management, or working in a behavioral health setting.
Proficiency in motivational enhancement therapy.
Experience with Methasoft data entry and Medi-Cal services is preferred.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of community resources for referrals, including housing, medical treatment, education, employment opportunities, and legal assistance.
