Exciting Opportunity: Pediatric Registered Nurse – School Based

Schedule: M-F 8am-4pm

Contract-to-hire. Starting pay is $105,000 and when converted to permanent employee, pay goes up to $110,000. The pay is flexible depending on the right candidate!

About Us: The Children, Youth, Family and Transitional Age Youth Services Division (CYFTAY) focuses on underserved clients, including infants, toddlers, preschool children, transitional age youth, pregnant/parenting teens, and families facing financial challenges, homelessness, and immigration issues. We offer multidisciplinary programs, including Early Care and Education, Early Intervention|Inclusion, Family Support, Mental Health Services, Health, Nutrition, Wellness, and Parenting Education Programming.

Position Overview: Reporting to the Administrative Director, this role directly contributes to our strategic priorities by focusing on the health and wellness of children, families, and educators. As we navigate through the impact of the pandemic and civil unrest, the need for deliberate attention to health and wellness is greater than ever. The Registered Nurse will play a crucial role in developing and implementing services and strategies that support our goals in health, nutrition, physical activity, and emotional wellness.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current California State Nursing License.
  • BLS/CPR First Aid Certification.
  • Experience working with children birth to five and their families.
  • Three years of pediatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development and assessment.
  • Ability to communicate and train for staff development.
  • Commitment to social justice, empowerment of families, and support for diversity.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Leading Nonprofit's “Healthy Families, Healthy Lives” health and wellness program.
  • Collaborate with the Family Support team to enhance physical, social, and emotional health.
  • Develop plans for children’s medical needs based on assessment.
  • Provide support to families, administer prescribed medication, and monitor progress.
  • Act as a health and wellness expert for ECE teachers, counselors, and leadership teams.
  • Deliver health-related education to children and staff in individual and group settings.
  • Oversee immunization records, infection control, and school safety plans.
  • Lead vision, hearing, dental, BMI screening procedures, and more.
