Position Overview:
The Special Education Teacher provides tailored instruction and academic interventions for students with diverse learning needs. This role involves guiding a team to create an integrated academic and therapeutic environment, ensuring each student's academic, social, and emotional needs are met according to program guidelines, Ed Code, and IEP goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Create a welcoming, secure learning environment with data-driven planning.
Supervise Teacher Assistants and School Counselors to deliver academic, behavioral, and therapeutic services.
Implement positive behavior intervention using trauma-informed principles.
Complete IEPs, including assessments, goals, and progress reports.
Assist with the educational component of NPS Site Certification annually.
Respond to crises, including physical intervention when necessary for safety.
Ensure timely and accurate documentation, including billing and electronic health records.
Engage caregivers in discussions about student progress and involvement.
Guide and coordinate duties of support staff, supervising up to four teacher assistants.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in required meetings and professional development.
Complete mandatory training, including through Relias and Pro-Act.
Maintain a high standard of professional behavior.
Adapt to program and student needs with flexibility.
Maintain a rewards program for students and communicate progress with families.
Produce the School Accountability Report Card and perform Test Coordinator duties.
Supervise report card completion, credit counts, and transcripts, and oversee quarterly IEP goal updates and reporting.
Qualifications:
Understanding of Master Contracts and ISAs with school districts and SELPAS.
Special Education Credential, MHRS, or CBEST.
Experience in Special Education preferred.
Valid California driver’s license, TB clearance, DOJ, and FBI clearance.
Valid California Special Education Mild to Moderate Disabilities Credential.
