Title: Teacher (Early Care & Learning Center)
Location: San Fernando Valley
Salary: Starting Hourly Range - $24.50-$26.94
Duration: contract-to-hire

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Schedule may include early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. Overtime may be required. 

Travel: 10% travel required, including between San Fernando Valley and Antelope Valley. Some overnight travel may be necessary.

General Summary: Under general supervision, the Teacher fosters learning activities for children from birth to 5 years old and promotes family engagement. The role involves developing individual goals for children, ongoing progress assessments, and facilitating their transition to kindergarten. The Teacher also supervises and guides assigned teaching staff in line with the policies of our leading nonprofit client.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Classroom Management (80%):

  • Oversee daily classroom operations and ensure compliance with program standards.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train teaching staff, and participate in recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Manage lesson plans, assessments, and required documentation.
  • Lead by example, plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, and adapt curriculum to meet diverse needs.
  • Set and review educational goals, engage with families, and conduct parent conferences and home visits.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment and ensure professional communication and boundaries.

Administrative Functions (20%):

  • Ensure timely completion of reports and documentation.
  • Submit lesson plans for review, and collect observations for assessments.
  • Assist with tracking and compliance
  • Maintain confidentiality, report incidents, and handle data securely.

Non-Essential Duties:

  • Promote parental involvement through conferences and activities.
  • Plan and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Attend meetings and professional development, and assist with food service as needed.

Job Specifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Education, Child Development, or related field with 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including 3 semester units in Infant/Toddler Development. Internal applicants may substitute with an Associate’s Degree and waiver program participation.
  • Experience: 2 years in a preschool setting with families and children. Internal applicants need 1,000 hours of recent ECL classroom experience.
  • Certifications: Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate upon hire or within 30 days. Must hold or apply for a current Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.
  • Travel: 10% travel, including potential use of personal or client vehicles.
  • Work Environment: Early Care and Learning Center with classrooms, playgrounds, and office space. Background and health clearances required.

Preferred:

  • Experience: 3 years in early childhood education, including 1 year with developmentally disabled/delayed or behaviorally challenged children. Experience with IEPs, IFSPs, and trauma-informed care.
  • Certifications: Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higher.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced technology skills.
  • Bilingual: Ability to converse, write, and/or translate in English and Armenian/Spanish is preferred.
