Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our leading nonprofit client. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, mission-driven organization. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting the team with day-to-day accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and maintain general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring proper coding and timely processing.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities, working closely with department heads to monitor and manage financial performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings and audits.
  • Maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and recommendations.
  • Assist with process improvements and automation of financial workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in nonprofit accounting preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment.
