Job Title: Special Education Classroom Assistant / Paraprofessional/ Instructional Assistant Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour - this is an ongoing contract position Schedule: M-F 8:15am - 2:45pm (approx. 30 hours/week) Location: Buena Park, CA

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field preferred.
Specialized skills (e.g., sign language, bilingual) may be required for some positions.
Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
Essential Duties:
Assist teachers in managing classrooms and programs for special education students.
Tutor students in academic, functional, language, and specialized subjects; reinforce lessons, answer questions, and check work.
Supervise students to ensure a productive and safe learning or recreational environment.
Organize classroom materials, set up, clean up, and maintain a tidy, adaptive environment.
Review student records with teachers and support documentation and data collection.
Help maintain classroom behavior strategies to keep students on task.
Use ProAct principles to manage behavior (after training).
Assist students with personal hygiene, grooming, and self-help skills (e.g., toileting, dressing, eating).
Be a positive role model for students.
Accompany students on community-based outings, work programs, or field trips, reinforcing positive behavior.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, sit, bend, squat, kneel, and move/lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance).
Walk on various surfaces, including tile, carpet, concrete, and grass; navigate inclines and stairs.
Assist students with mobility devices and transportation; respond to emergencies when needed.
Work Conditions:
Work environment may vary in pace and pressure.
Classrooms have different levels of adult support depending on student needs.
Mental & Emotional Requirements:
Ability to memorize names, faces, and behavioral patterns.
Strong observational skills and ability to focus on students’ needs.
Ability to interact professionally with parents, students, coworkers, and supervisors.
