Position Overview:
Our leading healthcare nonprofit client is currently hiring a Medical Assistant. This full-time position is based in San Rafael, CA, at our main campus medical clinic, and reports to the Clinic Manager.
As a Medical Assistant, you will support the medical team by helping with patient care under the supervision of a Physician or Nurse Practitioner. You will interact directly with patients and work closely with the front office staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Escort patients to exam rooms and take vital signs (e.g., pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height).
Prepare treatment rooms for patient exams and position patients as needed.
Assist practitioners by handing instruments and materials during exams.
Maintain stocked exam rooms and monitor inventory.
Perform routine diagnostic tests (e.g., EKG), or schedule tests at medical facilities.
Administer injections and treatments, and conduct lab tests.
Perform venipuncture (blood draws) and prepare specimens for the lab.
Clean, sterilize, and disinfect medical equipment according to guidelines.
Follow clinical policies, OSHA standards, and universal precautions.
Communicate professionally with patients and team members.
Ensure patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
Assist with patient paperwork, check eligibility, and schedule appointments.
Participate in meetings, trainings, and other required activities.
Perform additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Valid Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Current CPR certification.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Experience in a community healthcare clinic is a plus.
Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.
Flexibility to be cross-trained in various clinic roles.
