We are very excited to start the search for our new Director of Behavioral Health!

A Better Way is one of the leading non-profit, community-based foster care service agencies in the Bay Area. Our mission is centered around the thousands foster care placements we have provided and our behavioral health services for children involved in the social services system for the last 25+ years!

We’re currently looking for a Director of Behavioral Health to add; not only their expertise in building partnerships, managing a budget of $2.8 million, and navigating county systems; but also, someone that can really bring our passion for our community into the forefront of their work! This passion is evident in every one of our 130 employees; including the 4 coordinators and supervisors that report to the Director of Behavioral Health. This role is centered around garnering support and advocating for our programs.

Our team has been the cornerstone of our success, and a passion for helping the community of children and their families in foster care both drives and unites us. We are equally as passionate about our mission as we are about supporting our team. This position is considered hybrid, you can work from home as you see fit! But we do really enjoy seeing each other face-to-face and working collaboratively so we all make the effort to spend a bit of time in the office! Our compensation package includes a sign-on bonus, 16 holidays, 100% free medical coverage for the employee, and a great employee assistance program!

  • Licensed Psychologist, Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist
  • 3-5 years post licensure
  • Experience in a leadership/administrative role providing supervision and guidance to mental health programs
  • Experience and alignment with a culture of collaborative leadership
  • Strong familiarity with the child welfare/social service systems
  • Alignment with high standards for Cultural Humility and experience working with people from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
