A Better Way is one of the leading non-profit, community-based foster care service agencies in the Bay Area. Our mission is centered around the thousands foster care placements we have finalized and the behavioral health services we provide to children and their families.
Joining our team as a Mental Health Clinician with us will not only give you a huge family of 130 coworkers with the same drive but also give you the opportunity to make an impact on members of our community who need it most! This position will give you the flexibility to make your own schedule—with about 4 hours per day spent direct with clients. The caseload is generally 7-11 depending on current needs! Some of the trainings or modalities we use are; Circle of security, Touchpoints, FAN, CPP/IPP, PCIT, Theraplay, etc. We are open to both associate and licensed clinicians!

This position is considered hybrid, time will be spent with clients, but documentation can be done from home or in office! We do really enjoy seeing each other face-to-face and working collaboratively so we all make the effort to spend a bit of time in the office! Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct client care in home, in the office, by telehealth or in the community for children 6 to 18 years and their families
Attend appropriate meetings, which include weekly group supervision, staff meetings, trainings and supervision,
Obtain consent for treatment from the child welfare worker, where appropriate,
Monitor eligibility and obtain authorizations where appropriate,
Through regularly scheduled sessions, provide psychotherapy, intensive clinical case management, and crisis intervention to assigned children and families. Work with various modalities including individual, dyadic, and family therapy. Conduct assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans in collaboration with clients, caregivers, and other providers. Provide appropriate mental health services.
Meet yearly productivity requirement of 50% and up
Submit PURQC paperwork to QA team by due date 80% of the time
Meet timeliness for Assessments and Tx plans in Avatar 80% of the time
Have a yearly chart approval rate of 80%
Meet all EPSDT contractual expectations; including all documentation needs, timeliness of progress notes (within 24 hours of service provision), and meet all programs expectations of effective chart management.
Follow regulatory guidelines, mandated reporting, and program/agency protocols in performing duties
Provide culturally responsive services
Abide by all provisions of the ABW personnel manual
Perform any other duties as directed.
Qualifications
Excellent clinical and writing skills.
Direct experience working with culturally diverse populations
Understanding of basic theoretical and developmental principles of infant, early childhood, and family mental health
Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
Ability to understand psychological assessment reports; psychological assessment experience a plus for psychologist applicants
Must have a car and good driving record
Understand and desire to work with a strength-based mental health approach
Knowledge, understanding, and willingness to work with interdisciplinary approaches and partnerships
Knowledge, understanding, and willingness to work through telehealth means as needed
Understanding DSM, and treatment plans
Ability to work independently and to work as a member of a team
Excellent organizational, computer, and communication skills
